Product information

Description

The ASUS TUF GAMING A520M-PLUS WIFI is a micro-ATX motherboard based on the AMD A520 chipset with Socket AM4 support for AMD Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series processors. Designed for stable, long-lasting operation, the board includes military-grade components, improved power delivery and multiple cooling options. Integrated Wi‑Fi (802.11ac), M.2 storage support and numerous USB Type-A ports provide flexible connectivity for gaming and general-purpose PCs.

Advantages

This motherboard combines reinforced hardware such as SafeSlot Core+ and stainless-steel back I/O for greater durability, TUF components (chokes and capacitors) and Digi+ VRM for stable power delivery, plus fan control via Fan Xpert 2+ and UEFI BIOS for efficient cooling management. Additional protections include ESD guards, DRAM overvoltage protection and TUF LANGuard network protection. Built-in BIOS FlashBack™ and Armoury Crate software simplify setup and system control.

Suitable for

  • Building a compact gaming PC with AMD Ryzen CPUs
  • Home and office systems requiring reliable long-term operation
  • Upgrading a system with M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD storage
  • Users who need integrated Wi‑Fi and multiple USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports

Key specifications

  • Form factor: Micro ATX
  • Chipset: AMD A520
  • Processor socket: Socket AM4 (supports Ryzen 3000/5000 series)
  • Memory: 4 x DIMM, DDR4 up to 128 GB
  • Storage: M.2 (up to 2280, PCIe 3.0 x4, 32 Gbps), SATA III ports
  • Expansion: 1 x PCIe x16 (Gen3), 2 x PCIe x1 (Gen3)
  • Networking: Onboard 802.11ac Wi‑Fi (1x1, up to 433.3 Mbps) and LAN with TUF LANGuard
  • Rear I/O: Multiple USB Type-A including USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports
  • Special features: SafeSlot Core+, ESD Guards, BIOS FlashBack™, Armoury Crate

How to use

Install the motherboard into a compatible micro-ATX case and secure it on the standoffs. Fit a compatible Socket AM4 CPU and apply an appropriate CPU cooler. Populate DDR4 memory modules into the DIMM slots following the manual’s recommended configuration for dual-channel operation. Connect storage devices to the M.2 slot or SATA ports, attach power connectors from a compatible PSU and connect front-panel headers and peripherals. Use BIOS FlashBack™ if you need to update UEFI without CPU or memory installed. Configure fan curves and system settings via the UEFI BIOS or Armoury Crate software after the first boot.

Usage recommendations

For optimal stability, use high-quality DDR4 memory kits listed as compatible by ASUS and install a CPU cooler that matches the intended workload. Keep BIOS and Armoury Crate software updated to ensure compatibility with newer Ryzen processors and connected devices. When installing heavy graphics cards, use the reinforced SafeSlot Core+ and ensure the PSU provides sufficient power and stable rails.

Specifications

BIOS type: The BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) initializes and tests system hardware components, and loads a bootloader or an operating system from a mass memory device. The BIOS additionally provides abstraction layer for the hardware, i.e. a consistent way for application programs and operating systems to interact with the keyboard, display, and other input/output devices. There are several types of BIOS, including the motherboard ROM BIOS, video BIOS, drive controller BIOS, network adapter BIOS, and SCSI adapter BIOS.
