Passepartout mat board focus 18x24 outer / 13x18 inner, black with black core (focus 133368)

Focus Passepartout mat board sized 18x24 cm outer with a 13x18 cm inner opening, finished in black surface with a black core. Designed for framing photographs, prints, certificates and small artworks, this acid-free mat provides a consistent, non-reflective border that helps isolate and enhance the image. The black-on-black construction reduces light bleed at the edge of the opening and creates a clean visual separation between the framed object and its frame.

Advantages

The black surface combined with a black core gives a continuous, seamless look that minimizes distracting edge light and maintains uniform contrast. Acid-free composition supports archival display, helping to protect photographs and paper prints from long-term degradation. The precise 13x18 cm inner opening and standard 18x24 cm outer size make it compatible with common frames and ready-to-use framing workflows.

Suitable for

• Framing photographic prints and portraits sized to 13x18 cm
• Displaying certificates, small drawings and limited-edition prints
• Gallery installations and retail framing where neutral, non-reflective borders are preferred
• Archival presentation and storage due to acid-free materials

When it may not be suitable

This passepartout is intended for images that fit a 13x18 cm opening; it is not suitable for larger works or irregularly shaped pieces without trimming or additional matting. If a lighter, textured, or colored border is required for stylistic contrast, a plain black mat with a black core may not achieve the desired visual effect.

Key specifications

• Outer dimensions: 18 x 24 cm
• Inner opening: 13 x 18 cm
• Surface: black, non-reflective finish
• Core: black
• Material: acid-free mat board suitable for archival use
• Intended use: framing for photographs, prints and certificates

How to use

Measure the artwork or photograph to confirm it fits the 13x18 cm inner opening. If necessary, trim the image or use an additional backing to position it correctly. Place the image behind the opening and secure it to the backing board with archival tape or hinging corners, then assemble within an 18x24 cm frame or a larger frame with this passepartout. Handle the mat by its edges to avoid fingerprints on the surface and core.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm the visible image size matches the 13 x 18 cm inner opening
• Check that an 18 x 24 cm outer size fits your frame or mounting plan
• Decide if a black-on-black aesthetic is suitable for the artwork’s tones and contrast
• Ensure archival, acid-free matting meets your long-term conservation needs

Usage recommendations

For best results, pair the passepartout with non-reflective glazing and a simple frame to maintain neutral presentation. When displaying photographic work, center the subject within the opening and use archival hinging to avoid adhesive contact with the image surface.
