Kotarbau Coal Shovel for Petromax - model CSHOV40

The Kotarbau Coal Shovel for Petromax - model CSHOV40 is a purpose-built shovel for scooping and moving coal, charcoal and ash around Petromax stoves and grills. It is designed to assist with fuel management and cleanup tasks during barbecues, camping trips or daily stove maintenance. The tool aims to simplify handling of hot and cold residues with a construction focused on practicality and durability.

Advantages

The shovel features a robust blade profile and a handle engineered for leverage and control, allowing efficient transfer of fuel and removal of ash. Its straightforward design minimizes moving parts and potential failure points, offering reliable operation under frequent use. Compatibility with Petromax cooking and heating appliances ensures a good fit and convenient workflow when tending coals or emptying ash pans.

Suitable for

• Scooping and moving lump coal or charcoal in stoves and grills
• Removing cooled ash and debris after burning cycles
• Managing fuel during camping, outdoor cooking, or workshop heating
• Routine stove maintenance and cleaning tasks

When it may not be suitable

This coal shovel is intended for handling solid fuels and ash; it is not designed for use as a general-purpose garden spade or for digging soil. It may be less effective with very fine ash that passes through gaps or with large stones and non-combustible debris that can damage the blade.

Key specifications

• Primary use: scooping and transferring coal, charcoal and ash
• Construction: rigid metal blade with a fitted handle for control and leverage
• Compatibility: designed to work with Petromax stoves and grills
• Intended environment: indoor stoves, outdoor grills, and camping setups

How to use

Use the shovel to scoop cooled coal or charcoal from the firebox and transfer it to a designated container or ashtray. For ash removal, wait until the ash has cooled to a safe temperature before scooping to avoid hot embers. Employ controlled, firm motions to leverage material out of tight spaces and avoid striking hard objects that could deform the blade. If working near hot surfaces, wear heat-resistant gloves and keep a safe distance from open flames.

What to consider before purchase

• Check that the shovel dimensions and blade shape suit your Petromax model and intended tasks
• Consider whether you need an extended handle for reach or shorter configuration for compact storage
• Assess whether the shovel’s material and construction match expected frequency of use and exposure to high temperatures

Usage recommendations

For safe operation, always allow coals and ash to cool sufficiently before handling, use appropriate protective gloves, and store the shovel in a dry place to prevent corrosion. Regularly inspect the blade and handle connection for wear and deformities to maintain effective and safe performance.
